The farmhouse is heated by a Windhager 26kW wood pellet biomass boiler.  There is a 4-5 tonne pellet silo and an underground heat main going from the boiler plant room to the farm.  Additional hot water is provided by 3 x Vailliant flat plate solar thermal panels, which supply a 300 litre un-vented cylinder.  A large 35kW solar PV array is spread across the roofs of two outbuildings.  This was installed in December 2011 and is made up of 195W Alex Solar panels with two Fronius IG 120-V3 (10kW) and one Fronius IG 150-V3 (12kW) inverters.  There are double glazed A-rated windows and all the inside external walls are insulated with 50mm sheet insulation.
